For the seaworthy traveler, being near the ocean is a good thing!  The Captain Samuel Fowler House itself is located on a tidal river, and across the street from several marina.  On a typical summer's day, the ocean's breeze wafts in, and the crying gulls add a pleasant backdrop to the rustling of trees.

The local Porter River is also home to a pair of seals, which yearly make the trip to the end of the tidal portion of the river, and frolic for excited passerbys.

Ever sail on a three- masted schooner?

In 2000, Boston hosted a variety of Tall Ships from around the world, drawing more than 2 million visitors.  Plans for a repeat in the summer 2004 were cancelled because of the Democratic National Convention, but be assured, the Tall Ships will sail here again!!!
